Sequestering ability of polyaminopolycarboxylic ligands towards dioxouranium(VI) cation

Sequestration of organometallic compounds by natural organic matter. binding of trimethyltin(IV) by fulvic and alginic acids

The binding capacity of fulvic and alginic acids towards trimethyl tin(IV) cation was quantitatively determined in order to evaluate the sequestering ability of toxic organometallic compounds by natural organic matter. Investigations were performed in the pH range of natural waters (5–8.5) where the carboxylate groups, largely present in both sequestering agents, are the main binding sites. Binding properties of mono-(6-deoxy-6-amino)-β-cyclodextrin towards p-nitroaniline derivatives: a polarimetric study

Abstract Polarimetry was used in order to investigate the formation of supramolecular complexes between mono-6-amino-β-cyclodextrin and various p-nitroaniline derivatives at two different pH values. Comparison with the behaviour of native β-cyclodextrin gave us the opportunity to consider the effect exerted by the presence of charged groups, having different solvation requirements, on the binding equilibrium. Data offer some support to the hypothesis of ‘dynamic co-inclusion’ of solvent molecules within the host–guest complex.

Equilibria involved in the diorganotin(IV) and triorganotin(IV) phosphomycin interaction in aqueous solution

Four new diorganotin(IV), (R = Me, Bu), and triorganotin(IV), (R = Me, Ph), derivatives of the phosphomycin disodium salt antibiotic[(1R,2S)-1,2-epoxypropylphosphonate]Na2 have been synthesized and their solid state configuration studied by X-ray crystallography, FT-IR, Mossbauer, UV–Vis spectroscopies. The X-ray diffraction investigation, performed on the bis[trimethyltin(IV)]- phosphomycin, showed that the coordination geometry at all the Sn atoms is trigonal bipyramidal. The structure of the complex forms an unusual polymeric zig-zag planar network. Abstract Protonation constants and Mg 2+ , Ca 2+ , Pb 2+ , Mn 2+ -, Co 2+ , Ni 2+ , Cu 2+ , Zn 2+  and Cd 2+ glycine complex formation constants have been determined in different aqueous media at different temperatures. Salt effects are explained by a complex formation model which takes into account the formation of weak species. From the temperature dependence of the formation constants, thermodynamic parameters ΔH θ (and in some cases ΔC θ p ) have been obtained. The interaction of a synthetic enantiopure azamacrocyclic receptor (L) with biologically important chiral dicarboxylates (A, 1-7) has been studied by means of potentiometric titrations in 0.15 M NaCl aqueous solution in a wide pH range. This macrocycle forms strong complexes of the type [HnLA](n-2) (with n = 0-5). As a general trend, the binding is much tighter at basic or neutral pH than in acidic medium. Interestingly, nonprotected excitatory amino acids (Asp and Glu) are strongly bound even at acidic pH. Solubility and acid-base properties and activity coefficients of chitosan in different ionic media and at different ionic strengths, at T=25°C

Studies on the acid-base properties and solubility of a polyammonium polyelectrolyte (chitosan) with different molecular weights (MW 310 and 50 kDa), were performed at T=25 °C, in the pH range 2.5–7. The protonation of chitosan was investigated by potentiometry ([H+]-glass electrode) in NaCl, NaNO3 and mixed NaNO3+Na2SO4 ionic media, at different ionic strengths. Abstract Potentiometric investigations in aqueous solution at 25°C and ionic strength 0.1 mol dm−3 KCl show that 2 2,4-toluenediamine-N,N,N′N′-tetraacetic acid (2,4-TDTA) forms with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II) and Mn(II) the following complexes (ligand, H4L): monomers [MH2L], [MHL]− and [ML]2−; dimers [M2HL2]3− and [M2L2]4−; with excess of ligand [MH2L2]4−, [MHL2]5− and [ML2]6− (Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)) and with excess of metal [M2HL]+ (Ni(II), Co(II)and Mn(II) and [M2L] (Cu(II)). Interaction of UO2(2+) with ATP in aqueous ionic media.

Interaction of dioxouranium(VI) (uranyl) ion with ATP was studied by ligand/proton and metal/hydroxide displacement technique, at very low ionic strength and at I=0.15 mol L(-1), in aqueous Me4NCl and NaCl solutions, at t=25 degrees C. Measurements were carried out in the pH range 3-8.5, before the formation of precipitate. Computer analysis allowed us to find the quite stable species UO2(ATP)H2(0), UO2(ATP)H-, UO2(ATP)2-, UO2(ATP)2(6-), UO2(ATP)2H2(4-) and UO2(ATP)(OH)3- whose formation constants are (at I=0 mol L(-1)) logbeta(112)=18.21, logbeta(111)=14.70, logbeta(110)=9.14, logbeta(120)=12.84, logbeta(122)=24.82, and logbeta(11-1)=2.09, respectively. Abstract The spectrophotometric and thermodynamic properties of molecular complexes of riboflavin (RFN) with some dihydro β-carboline derivatives have been investigated by using electronic absorption and fluorescence spectroscopic methods in aqueous solution. The molecular associations have been examined by means of eletronic absorption spectra, since in each, a new charge transfer-like band has been located, and also by observing the variation of the fluorescence emission of RFN on the solutions.
